Spring Break in our New Camper Day 1.5

It's been an incredibly long time since I've posted. And tons of things have happened since then. But, that will all have to wait because we bought an RV and took her on her maiden voyage two days later!

The kids promptly fell asleep after only about an hour on the road. They slept like rocks for almost the whole trip

This is how Newman tried to ride

Santa Barbara

Newman likes the view
We stayed at Rancho Oso in Santa Barbara and loved it! It was the perfect mix of "RV Park" and "Nature". It's a real working ranch with animals and horses. Unfortunately we weren't able to take advantage of the trail rides (since you have to be 8). But we thoroughly enjoyed the playground, mini-golf and swimming in their heated pool. Since we were only here one night, we didn't get to take advantage of their bull demonstrations or see their horse farrier at work. But this is one place we will definitely go back for a second go 'round.

Clay was very helpful and helped me do dishes most nights

We stopped in the town of Solvang on our way to destination number 2. It is a beautiful little Dutch town with charming shops, restaurants and famous aebleskivers! It was a beautiful day, so we just left the generator going and left the dogs in the RV and enjoyed the sights (and tastes!) for an afternoon.

Halloween 2013

These are our only pictures of today. I started at 6am this morning and am just sitting down for the first time today (9:15pm).
We began our morning with a dead car battery that led to me missing the Halloween parade at school. Carter was super upset because I missed it last year and I had promised I would make it this time. But I had to borrow Cory's truck, shove all the kids inside and get it back to him so he could make it to work.
Even when we jumped my car, it died again so I rode my bike to my friend Sara's house and was able to borrow their extra car.
We were also totally out of groceries and I had to volunteer in Clay's class from 11:30-2.
So, no car with a lot of things on my to do list made for a crazy day.

skeleton, kitty and black ninja

Just before this picture Vivi burst into tears from growing pains, hence the sad face.

If you can see them, Carter made his own nun chucks out of toilet paper  rolls, tape and string

This mask was freaking me out.

Weapons of Mass Destruction

It's been awhile since we've had a teething puppy in the house. Well, it's been exactly 8 years. This time 8 years ago, we were dealing with a puppy Bailey.
Bailey is now an AWESOME dog. She's well behaved, chill, and lets us sleep in in the morning. Did you know that puppies don't come that way? Not even a little bit? Apparently we had forgotten that puppies are basically AWFUL and try to kill you every day with their JAWS OF DEATH.
How easily we forgot. Because even Bailey was an AWFUL puppy. She ate everything, and jumped on everyone and never listened and dug up our yard and now that I'm saying all of this out loud, the memories are flooding back. Hmmm....
So, basically Newman is cute and is doing great with crate training and housebreaking, but my ankles look like I treaded through an ankle deep pond of broken glass. I know it's this puppy, teething stage, it will pass. We are basically trying to fill his muzzle with anything but human flesh, but every now and then that tender skin is too much to pass up on.
Yesterday, I finally thought to myself, "WHY do his teeth hurt so bad!?" And I looked, and now wish I hadn't. Ignorance was bliss. And you know, curiosity killed the cat.
If curiosity was named Newman.
So, anyway, I found DAGGERS in his mouth. I mean, look at them!? They're shaped like weapons! Also, his canines are FOR REAL needles. I could sew a quilt with the dern things. (If I could sew).

Cruise Pictures, Episode II

All around the boat, and especially at dinner time, the photography staff comes by to take your picture. Here are a few of our best (and worst)....

The three boys

This was about as good as it got

This was more the norm

And this....

Formal night #1

A rare view of a natural smile from Viv

Look at my handsome man

Formal night #2

An actual decent picture of Clay. Also rarely seen these days

When we were telling Vivi to smile, Carter took it into his own hands, literally.
