Spring Break Days 3 and 4

We stayed at Fernwood Resort in Big Sur. It was beautiful! A great 'woodsy' location with a stream and big redwoods everywhere. The camp wasn't very crowded so the boys had free range of the stream.
This location is where we learned we had accidentally overfilled our gray water tank (and it started leaking at about dusk). And of corse this location only had one dump site and we had to pay $20 to use it. :(
This is also where we had the GREAT DOOR DEBACLE and Cory cussed for an hour while he couldn't get our camper door open. Our best guess is that something had shifted or broken and it made this bolt thingy stand in the way which prevented our door from opening at all. We couldn't take the door off the hinges because they were welded. After Cory had declared that the whole thing a piece of s**t and that we were headed home, I was able to open it with approximately seven minutes and a flat head.

The boys loved the stream

burgers for dinner!

Newman would love a burger

Viv was a little upset that she wasn't allowed to go play in the stream by herself with the boys

Carter found another great climbing tree

These are coming south along Highway 1. Hwy 1 was INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL. I had completely underestimated California in the beauty department. I mean, the Mojave desert isn't fantastic. LA at least has some green, and that's nice - but that place is a jungle. We've been to San Fran (via Hwy 5 and 99) and it was nice, but I'd never seen this. It is amazing! You have to see it first hand. Its awfully windy and high, so be prepared to go slow (especially in an RV!) for lots and lots of miles.

Stunning!

Finally convinced Carter to smile nicely for me

If you look closely, you can see a little bridge we went under

We saw this place coming up Hwy1 but weren't able to stop in enough time to take pictures. So, on the way home, I woke everyone up and even made Vivi do her hair, because this place was gorgeous and I wasn't going to miss a photo op like this!
I think I got a few decent ones.

Look at that view!

There's our Minnie!

My handsome hubs

Pelicans, going 50mph. They were SO CLOSE! and they kept up with us for a mile or two!

Next up: Paso Robles!

What a cool trip! Road trips look far more fun in a Minnie.
Love love love Big Sur! Lived in Monterey as a kid and remember how beautiful that area was...and I also remember the super curvy roads.

When you look at the first picture close up, it looks like Carter is about to behead Clay with his imaginary ax/stick. Have they been watching Game of Thrones?
