End of the Year Cub Scout Campout

This weekend was the end of the year campout. The boys (and families) go up to Tehachapi and tell corny jokes, scary stories and get to 'cross over' to the next level of cub scouts. Carter has been a tiger cub all year and is now a wolf cub! He's pretty excited and most of his little tiger friends will also be here next year. Although, he was pretty bummed because he was under the impression that wolves were able to get their pocket knives and found out that it's not until you're a bear cub that that happens. It's probably better that way anyway. The longer we can prolong the knives, the better. Clay, Vivi and I didn't camp. We went up Saturday during the day to watch the ceremony and have dinner with Cory and Carter.

Pt. Mugu

We took our camper to Pt. Mugu. It's an awesome little site on Ventura Naval Air Station. Sometimes the military has its perks! It was another dog friendly beach which was great! We even *may or may not*  have let Newman off leash and let him totally freak out and try to swim away in the ocean.  Him and Bailey had the time of their lives. So now we just need to find a forever home with out own private beach. Should be easy, right?

Welcome the Air Force's Newest and Most Handsome Lt. Colonel!

   
     Cory pinned on Lt. Colonel on May 1st. His parents were able to make it out and we had a great time celebrating all of Cory's hard work and achievements. Our great friends from our TPS class made it to celebrate and our good friend Bob was able to swear Cory in. It was a special moment. (I think for both of them ;) ) I'm so proud of my super awesome husband. Sometimes I get bogged down in the day-to-day 'my husband is just a normal guy who can't seem to put his laundry away'. But if I take a step back, he's done some amazing things. A-MAZ-ING. He's a TEST PILOT for goodness sake. He flies big planes, AND little planes. He has TWO master's degrees. He's published. He's a Director of Operations! And, these are only academic/professional achievements. I could go on and on about how great of a dad, and husband and best friend and partner he is. Seriously, I lucked out.

Spring Break Days 4-6

After our exciting trip back down Highway 1 we stopped in Paso Robles for the night. We actually stopped at a Walmart first and picked up a few things and then made it to Wine Country RV in Paso Robles.

We were only there for about 18 hours and I didn't manage to get ANY pictures! Ugh. But here's one from google that accurately represents Paso Robles. It was BEAUTIFUL! (I find myself using that term a lot the last few posts.)

This RV place had all the amenities we needed but was definitely more geared toward the…older crowd. There were A LOT of rules. Rules about the grass, rules about who could be and where, etc. 

It did however have honeysuckle on the entire perimeter of the park and so the place smelled amazing! They had a really nice dog run and an off leash area so that was nice. But, Cory and I were the youngest couple there….by probably about 30 years. 

After our quick stay in Paso Robles we made our way to a KOA in Lake Isabella. It started raining and got really windy on the way over. So, we didn't really get out of the camper much at Lake Isabella. It was COLD! We had been excited to get there beforehand because their website advertised a lot of fun stuff like free ice cream on Fridays, pancakes on Saturdays, etc. However, then we got there they told us that none of that stuff starts until May. Boo. That would have been nice to know. So, we watched movies and played games and did a puzzle. And...went to bed at 8:30.
