I've been so busy preparing for this good news, that I completely forgot to mention it here for my loyal readers!
We're moving to California. EARLY! We're leaving Korea 6 months early! Holy Moly, that's like against the law or something.
But we're getting away with it.
Cory has been applying for Test Pilot School since 2006. He's been an alternate now for 3 years. We didn't really expect to get in the first year, most A-10 guys usually have to wait at least a year since they only take ONE A-10 guy.
Everyone told Cory he would be a "shoe-in" for next year. But when the list came out, he was an alternate again.
This last year, we were sure that he'd get in. Who was more qualified than the A-10 guy who has been an alternate twice!?
Well, apparently, someone was.
However, While we were traveling in CO, a few weeks ago. The Wing Commander called us on the EMERGENCY CONTACT NUMBER.
"Oh my Gosh!" I'm thinking. "Who could be dead? We're all here!? Right? Am I forgetting someone?"
But he calls to tell us that Cory is being pulled as an alternate for the January '10 class.
We have a NLT in December and we leave Korea on Dec.12!
I am so excited about coming 'home' to the states. I am so excited to be in AMERICA. But it took me awhile to get excited. I know that sounds crazy to all of you Osanites. How could I not be excited to get-the-hell outta there right!?
Because I will never meet girls like I have at Osan
I will never live down the hall from Anna who can coach me through breastfeeding a sickly baby at 7am, 12,1,2,3,4,5,6,and 9pm everyday.
I will never be able to hop over my balcony to let kiddos on the playground go pee.
I won't get to dance on the pole at Xanadu anymore.
I won't get to just walk babysitters up a flight of stairs to go home.
I won't get to be a Draggin
I won't get to curse at crazy Korean drivers.
I WILL have to do my own laundry and cleaning
I WON'T ever know what happens to Ms. Hong after we leave
I won't get to see my best friend deliver her twin boys (even AFTER she's moving RIGHT ACROSS THE HALL FROM ME!)
Carter will not get playdates and trips to the playground everyday.
I have to start driving everywhere again.
I won't get to buy all of the cool new 'mom gear' that everyone else had on the playground yesterday.
I am so excited and so sad all at the same time.
But I am determined to enjoy my last two months!

Best Buds
While visiting in the Chicago area, we were able to see Cory's sister and her kiddos. This is their youngest, Trey. and he is 2 months older than Carter. They quickly became best friends, or worthy adversaries (depending on their two-year-old moods.)

America the Beautiful!
So sorry for the lack of posting this last month! I've had Internet access, but not really a way to upload pictures.
But just so you all know...
We've stayed with Cory's parents in IN and spent lots of time in Chicago including a date night out on the town!
Carter's had lots of candy, juice boxes and love from the G-parents.
Clay has started crawling and pulling up!
And we're now in beautiful Colorado Springs for Cory's 10 year reunion. We took a tour of the Academy today IN THE SNOW! And drove down to the Royal Gorge.
Tomorrow includes horseback riding and many more fun adventures!
I have tons of pictures - and will update them as soon as I get to TX around the 1st of Oct.
But just so you all know...

Flu Shot - Get one
Okay, as many of you know. One of the things near and dear to MY heart is vaccinations.
A friend of mine recently posted about the gazillion different shots that our hubs' get being military members. It's A LOT, trust me.
Anyway - As always, it turns into a "Do you get a flu shot or not?" debate.
Here's my two cents:
Flu shots are not only for the people getting them, but for the protection of the small children, immunocompromised people and the elderly around us.
Babies under six months cannot receive them - also, babies under 6 months are the most likely to die from flu shots. Do you know what the flu could do to a preemie?
People allergic to eggs cannot get them
People who have had Guillian Barre Syndrome
36,000 people die every year from flu complications. DIE, not just get sick and take Nyquil, they DIE.
Fact: flu shots DO NOT give you the flu. Just because you happen to get the flu the same year you get the shot doesn't mean it was the shot that did it. It is impossible for us to vaccinate against every single strain.
To make a possibly, very long blog shorter here's a simple scenario to think about.
Mr Brown has a newborn baby at home. The time comes around for everyone to get the flu shot, but Mr. Brown in allergic to eggs, so he cannot receive it.
However, some of his friends decide that the flu shot makes them sick, or are scared of possible side effects and don't get the shot either. The flu spreads around Mr. Brown's work like crazy since few people received the vaccine. Therefore - Mr. Brown gets the flu too, because he was medically unable to get it. Then, his newborn baby gets the flu and dies. THE END.
I'll gladly endure any possible side effects to save some lives, but that's just me.

Labor Day
In honor of the upcoming Labor Day weekend, I'll tell you about mine. Thanks to Rocks In My Dryer.
How long were your labors?
Carter: 4 hours
Clay: 14 hours
Carter is still moving as fast as he possibly can
How did you know you were in labor?
My water broke at exactly 36 weeks with both kiddos.
Where did you deliver?
Carter was born in Tucson, AZ at St. Joseph's
Clay was born in Seoul, S. Korea at the 121 Combat Hospital.
Drugs?
Absolutely! I thought about the Bradley Method for approximately 2 days and then I asked for epidurals as soon as I walked in the doors. Unfortunately with #2, it took 4 TIMES TO GET IT IN!
C-section?
Carter was an Emergency Section (and still is :)) and Clay was a successful VBAC!
Who delivered?
A random Dr. who happened to be making really late rounds. She introduced herself as "Hi-I'm Dr.-Brainard-and-I'm going-to-do-your-c-section-okay? Can you feel this? Okay!" *Slice* I was the Emergency over the hospital's PA system. "ANY OB TO LABOR AND DELIVERY STAT". The on call OB in my Dr's practice made it to the hospital right as they were gluing me back up. Yes, I was glued shut.
Clay was delivered with only 40 minutes of pushing under normal non-emergent conditions by Dr. Barrett, who was like the female version of Doogie Houser.
